Weekend and spare time

Remember this place isn't just Pandas - apart from the Panda Center that it also gives access to a whole lot of other interesting areas. Bi Feng Xia consists of two main attractions - the Panda Research Center - and a safari park type zoo - where you get on a bus to drive through areas with Lion, Zebra and all the other stuff you find at these type of places. You also can meet the rivers, waterfalls and scenic pathways. Rather nice!!!

Ya'an is 15 mins bus away from the panda base. It is the starting point of the Sichuan-Tibet stretch of the Tea-horse Road. Best sights in and around Ya'an include the Mountain Erlang, Mountain Mengding.

Chengdu is 1 hour moto-way drive away from Ya'an. In addition to its profound historical and cultural background featuring historic places of interest such as the Thatched Cottage of Du Fu , Wuhou Memorial Temple and Wenshu Monastery , etc, natural beauty abounds in surrounding areas such as in the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area and Huang Long Valley (Yellow Dragon Valley) . Sampling the famous Sichuan cuisine is a must on a trip to Chengdu. Enjoying the food as well as the culture, shopping and having tea at a teahouse afford a deeper understanding of Chengdu.
